Diabetes is a metabolic disorder which affects any person due to poor lifestyle. There is no cure for this disease. It can be said that it is like a disease, once someone gets this disease; it gradually makes the body hollow. A person suffering from diabetes also has a high risk of heart attack. DrRavi Prakash, Consultant cardiologist, at Psri Hospital, is giving information about the connection between these two health conditions.
Why is there a risk of heart disease in diabetes?
According to experts, due to high blood sugar in diabetes, blood vessels start getting damaged. In diabetic patients, the coronary arteries become hard, this is called Atherosclerosis. In this condition, plaque starts accumulating in the blood vessels that provide oxygen and nutrition to the heart. This plaque can block the flow of blood in the heart, which increases the risk of heart attack. According to experts, as long as the blood sugar level remains high, the risk of heart attack remains. When blood sugar is high, blood pressure also increases. Due to this, the heart has to work very hard. And this becomes the cause of heart attack or stroke.
Do not ignore these symptoms
Experts say that diabetic patients often feel a burning sensation and pain in the chest, which people often ignore considering it to be a problem of acidity and gas. If you have diabetes and feel such symptoms, you should immediately consult a doctor.
