I am going to share the 5 most effective and natural remedies that will help you maintain your dental health and also give you whiter teeth. But for this, you have to follow 2 rules-

  • Be patient. It's not going to happen overnight.
  • Stick to these tips and follow them continuously.

1. Oil Pulling

Swirling oil in the mouth is called oil pulling. This is an Ayurvedic method which helps in removing bacteria from the gums and teeth. It helps in removing mouth ulcers. It also exercises the muscles of the mouth, thereby strengthening and toning them.

Method to do -

  • Use sesame/mustard or coconut oil.
  • Swish it in the mouth for 15-20 minutes and spit it out.

2. Neem and Babool twigs for teeth

Use neem and acacia twigs to brush your teeth. These herbs are anti-microbial. Chewing them releases anti-bacterial agents that help maintain oral health.

Method to do -

  • Choose a branch that is about as thick as your little finger.
  • To make it like a brush, chew one corner and spit into the basin at frequent intervals.
  • Brush it all over the gums and teeth.
  • After brushing, spit out the twig stuck on the teeth.

3. Tongue scraping

It is best for cleaning the oral cavity and removing toxins that cause the growth of bacteria that lead to plaque build-up.

Method to do -

  • Clean your tongue several times with a copper or stainless steel tongue scraper.

5. Herbal Mouth Rinse

A decoction of Triphala or Yashtimadhu works as the best mouth rinser. Apart from maintaining oral hygiene, it helps in reducing mouth ulcers.

Method to do -

  • Boil Triphala or Yashtimadhu in water till the water remains half.
  • Let it cool down.
  • Rinse your mouth with it.

6. Brush twice a day

It is important to brush every time after eating, especially after eating sticky foods like chocolate.

Method to do -

  • Brushing teeth 4-5 times a day is not possible for everyone, but we can brush at least twice a day (first thing in the morning and last thing before sleeping).
