After which Lord Shiva converted Ganga into seven streams with his Jata. Mother Ganga incarnated on the earth through Shankar ji's hair and 60 thousand sons of Maharaj Sagar attained salvation.
What is the correct method of bathing in the Ganges?
Ganga bath has special significance on Amavasya, Purnima, and Ganga Dussehra. Meditate on Mother Ganga with a true heart while taking a bath in Ganga. After this, they should offer Arghya, incense, lamp, naivedya, tambul, cool water, clothes, jewelry, garland, sandalwood, aachaman and a beautiful bed. Then one should praise Bhagwati Ganga with folded hands.
Don't make this mistake
Before bathing in the Ganges, take a good bath with normal water. Just take a dip in the river Ganga. Human impurity should not be known in the river Ganges. That's why do not rub the body with your hands while taking a bath. The body should not be wiped with a cloth after bathing in the Ganges. Let the water dry on the body itself. Ganga bath can be done even at the time of death or birth sutak, but women should not take Ganga bath in condition of menstruation. In case of taking a bath at home, mix a few drops of Gangajal or a small quantity in the bath water and take a bath.
