A big news has come for the people living in Delhi. Now the burden on the pockets of Delhiites seems to be increasing. Electricity prices are going to increase in Delhi. The increased prices of electricity will be seen in the electricity bill for July.

These increased prices will be applicable to electricity consumed from May 1. On Wednesday, July 10, the prices of electricity increased due to the revision of the prices of Power Purchase Agreement Cost i.e. PPAC by Discom i.e. distributing companies.

Now in Delhi, an increase of 6 to 8% can be seen in the bills of electricity consumers. So in the meantime, this question is also coming into the minds of the people. Will the free electricity scheme available in Delhi be stopped? So let us tell you the answers related to all these questions.

200 units of free electricity will continue to be available
Electricity prices have increased after the revision of the Power Purchase Agreement Cost by the electricity distribution companies in Delhi. Now in such a situation, the biggest question that is coming in the minds of people is whether the free electricity scheme in Delhi will be stopped. That is, the 200 units of electricity that people used to get for free will not be available now. So let us tell you that even after the revision in PPAC, there will be no effect on the 200-unit free electricity scheme. Electricity consumers will continue to get 200 units of free electricity in Delhi as before.

These companies have increased the rates

The maximum electricity supply in Delhi is done by BRPL i.e. BSES Rajdhani Power Limited. BRPL has increased the PPAC charge by a total of 8.75 percent. On the other hand, BYPL i.e. BSES Yamuna Power Limited, which is responsible for the supply of electricity in the Yamuna Par area, has increased the PPAC charge by 6.15 percent in its area. Apart from this, Tata Power has increased the PPAC charge by 29.13 percent and an extra increase of 8.75 fees, taking the total to 37.88 percent.

Prices were increased last year as well

Let us tell you that last year also in July, the power companies increased the PPAC charge. In July 2023, the PPAC charge was increased by 10 percent. Which was implemented till March 2024. Now the charge that has been increased is applicable till July. Regarding the price hike, Tata Power Company says that it was already charging the same PPAC charge.

No change has been made to it yet. On this whole matter, Delhi Energy Minister Atishi Marlena has said, 'Electricity bills have not been increased. Power supply companies have the right that when the demand for electricity increases in summer, the PPAC charge can be increased by up to 10 percent for some time.'
