People get spiritual peace by feeding dumb animals and birds. Many people also consider it a virtuous act. But, sometimes this can prove fatal for your health. Nowadays, people selling pigeon feed will be seen everywhere. People buy grains from them and feed them to pigeons. These pigeons camp and roost on house roofs, balconies, and skylights. Pigeon droppings contain a bacteria called Chlamydia psittaci. This bacteria can reach the lungs of humans through air and cause an infection called psittacosis. In recent times, the number of people suffering from this infection is increasing. Let us know some more important information related to this disease.

Cryptococcal fungus is found in abundance in pigeon droppings. This fungus comes into the air when a pigeon breathes and goes into the lungs of a human through the breath.

If the human's immunity is reduced, such as in diabetes, AIDS, or kidney/liver transplant patients, these fungi can travel through the lungs to the human brain and cause cryptococcal meningitis. This disease is very serious and can also be fatal.

Cryptococcal meningitis is treated with antifungal drugs. However, treatment of this disease is not always successful.
