The Modi government at the Center started the E-Shram Yojana in the year 2020 to provide economic security to the people working in the unorganized sector. Along with financial assistance, the government also provides accident insurance of Rs 2 lakh. By November 2022, about 28.42 crore people in the country had made E-Shram Card. Any Indian citizen working in the unorganized sector can register in this scheme.
The age to register is between 16 to 59 years. All laborers of the country like hawkers, vegetable vendors, domestic workers as well as youth doing small jobs can avail the benefit of the e-Shram Card Scheme.
The card of laborers and workers is generated after a few days of registration through the e-Shram portal. Under this portal, efforts are being made to connect all the laborers of the country on one platform. If the Central Government starts any scheme in the future, then it will provide benefits to the registered workers and laborers with the help of this portal. At present, those who register on this are given accident insurance of Rs 2 lakh.
Some important documents are required to register on this portal. The applicant must have documents like an Aadhar card, passport-size photo, income certificate, bank passbook, etc.
To get an e-Shram Card you have to apply online. To apply, first of all, you go to the e-Shram portal and register on the e-Shram option. After this enter your mobile number and OTP. Then apply the e-Shram Card form, and the enrollment process will be completed.
