At the global level, the pace of corona infection is quite controlled at the moment. Keeping this in mind, last month the World Health Organization (WHO) excluded the Corona epidemic from the list of 'Health Emergency'. Although some experts have expressed concern that this may be a hasty decision because a large number of people are still dying globally. Apart from this, a large number of people are still suffering from long Covid, and need special treatment and care, but after the lifting of restrictions, there have been many problems.

Long Covid has been a major concern for health experts since the beginning of the pandemic. Its risk is being seen more in people who are suffering from serious diseases. Since Omicron variants have been considered to have mild symptoms, what kind of risk of post covid syndrome is being seen in infected people, let us know what has been found in the studies.

Omicron and the risk of long covid
What is the risk of post covid problems in people with Omicron sub-variants? Researchers have made a big disclosure in the study done to know this.

According to a study published in The Journal of the American Medical Association, even though Omicron may have been a milder variant, about 10% of people infected with it reported long Covid. However, this is less than the estimated percentage of posts covid among people infected with earlier strains of coronavirus.

What did the study find?
Researchers studied data from 8,646 adults infected with COVID-19 and about 1,118 people who were not infected at different times of the pandemic. It found that of the 2,231 patients infected with Omicron between December 2021 and June, about 10% experienced long-term symptoms, or long COVID-19 complications, up to six months later.

Scientists say that people who were not vaccinated before the arrival of the Omicron variant were more likely to have severe cases and long covid during infection.

What do earlier studies say?
Earlier in a June 2022 report, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) had said that 1 in 5 Americans had reported about Long Kovid. Another study from the University of Oxford, published in September 2021, found that more than a third of infected patients experienced symptoms of long Covid.

Scientists are still looking for answers to many questions about Long Covid, such as what percentage of people get it, and why some people get it and not others.

Alert about the symptoms of long covid
In a recent study, scientists have advised people to be careful about many symptoms of long covid. If you are having problems like brain fog, dizziness, upset stomach, irregular heartbeat, problems with sexual desire or ability, loss of smell or taste, chronic cough, or chest pain, then consult a specialist about this. Do take advice.

Researchers say that people who have been victims of infection need to pay serious attention to the symptoms. The risk of long covid can also be in Omicron infected.
