When will the first lunar eclipse of the year 2023 take place?

A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth comes between the Moon and the Sun. During this event, the moon appears red, orange, brown, etc. This year the first lunar eclipse is going to happen on 5th May, a day Friday.

First Lunar Eclipse 2023 Time in India

The first lunar eclipse of this year will be visible in India on May 5, Friday, from 8.45 pm to 1 am. The lunar eclipse will last for a total of 4 hours and 15 minutes.

When will the Sutak period begin?

According to astrology, the Sutak period starts 9 hours before the lunar eclipse. Sutak period is considered an inauspicious time, so doing any auspicious work is prohibited during Sutak period.

Since, the lunar eclipse will not be visible in India. That's why its Sutak period will not be valid. However, the Sutak period will begin on May 5, Friday, at 11.45 am.

Where will the lunar eclipse be seen?

The first lunar eclipse of the year will be visible from the Indian Ocean, Antarctica, the Atlantic, parts of Asia, South-Western Europe, Africa and the Pacific Ocean.

These precautions should be taken during the lunar eclipse

Cooking and eating food should be avoided during the time of the lunar eclipse. The doors of the temple of the house should be kept closed and one should avoid doing worship. Chanting mentally is auspicious during this time.

During the lunar eclipse neither plants nor trees should be watered nor should they be touched. Also, children should not be allowed to go out of the house during the lunar eclipse.
