The level of air pollution in the capital Delhi-NCR continues to remain in the 'poor category'. The Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 330 on Thursday morning. This kind of air is considered harmful to health in many ways. Health experts say that staying in a polluted environment for a long time can cause respiratory and lung diseases, brain and nerve-related diseases, and even harm to the fetus. Health experts have expressed concern about the way the air quality in Delhi is deteriorating even before Diwali.

Doctors say that the polluted environment has been seen to have the greatest impact on the health of children and the elderly, although it can also be very dangerous for adults. It has once again become necessary for all people to wear masks while going out of their homes. Apart from this, parents should take special care of some things while sending children to school.

Rising pollution levels in Delhi

Delhi-NCR has once again become a non-carbonated city due to stubble burning in neighboring states. The situation is expected to worsen after Diwali. Health experts said, rising pollution can create very challenging conditions for health, so it is very important for everyone to keep taking preventive measures.

In a conversation with Amar Ujala, Dr Amarkant Dwivedi, a respiratory disease specialist at a private hospital in Delhi, says, the way the AQI has remained at a 'very poor' level above 300 for the last few days, everyone needs to be alert.

Make sure to wear a mask while going out.

Dr Amarkant says, that with the deteriorating quality of air, the level of pollutants like PM 2.5 also increases, which can cause many diseases by entering the body through the breath. To avoid these, all people must wear a mask while going out of the house. Good-quality masks filter these pollutants and prevent them from entering the body.

By making a habit of wearing a mask, you can also avoid the infection of influenza virus which is increasing due to the change in weather these days.

Avoid going out of the house in the morning and evening.

Doctors say that the level of air pollution has been seen to be the highest in the morning and evening, so one should avoid going for a morning walk. Due to lack of wind, there may be more micro particles in the morning. The breathing rate usually increases during morning walks or exercise in the park in the morning. Due to deep breathing, the risk of pollutants entering the body also increases significantly. In such a situation, going out of the house, walking or any type of physical activity outside in the morning and evening should be avoided.

Due to the deterioration in air quality, respiratory problems have increased by 30-40 percent, in which the most affected are children and the elderly.

What should school-going children do?

Doctors say that increasing air pollution is considered even more dangerous for the health of children, so all parents should take special care while sending children to school. Send children to school only after wearing a mask. Make sure that the child drinks plenty of water throughout the day, so that the symptoms caused by air pollution can be reduced. If the child has any kind of respiratory problem or asthma, then definitely consult your doctor about this.
