Jammu and Kashmir: Villagers Near Pak Border Clean Bunkers Amid Growing Tensions, Locals Demand Revenge for Pahalgam Attack

After the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the entire nation is on high alert, with Jammu and Kashmir being a focal point of concern. In response to growing security fears, villagers living near the Pakistani border have started cleaning and preparing old bunkers for possible emergencies.

Locals Step Up Preparations Amid Rising Tensions

Residents from Arina village in Trewal, a border area, expressed concern over the current situation, stating that although there had been peace for a while, they were once again preparing for the worst.

"Earlier, the bunkers were used for shelter during firing incidents, but now, after the Pahalgam attack, the need to prepare again has intensified," said one local.

Although single bunkers can be quickly readied, community bunkers require more time and effort to repair. Villagers said they wanted to be fully prepared, as the threat could arise at any moment.

"If India Doesn’t Take Revenge, It Will Be Shameful"

The frustration of the locals is evident, as they demand a strong response from India.

"If India does not take revenge, it will be shameful for us," said a villager.
"Living near the border, we are the first ones who will bear the consequences if anything happens. We want to be fully ready."

Despite their calls for retaliation, villagers emphasized that they did not want to undermine the efforts of the Indian government or army. They support decisive action, acknowledging the pain caused by the attack on innocent civilians.

Security Forces Ramp Up Action

On the military front, after the Pahalgam attack, security forces have gone into full alert mode. Large-scale operations are underway, with terrorist hideouts being raided and destroyed. For instance, the house of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Shahid Ahmed was demolished in Shopian. Shahid, who has been active since 2023, is now a prime target for security forces.

The growing tension and preparedness in these villages underscore the urgent need for both local readiness and a robust national security response to ensure the safety of citizens and retaliate against terrorist activities.
