As the investigation into the Pahalgam terror attack deepens, Indian intelligence has uncovered a dangerous spy network operating right under the radar — and Noman Ilahi, a seemingly ordinary factory worker from Haryana, is at the heart of it.
Noman, who was arrested last week, is accused of passing sensitive military and transport intelligence to Pakistan’s notorious spy agency, the ISI. What’s even more alarming: Noman was allegedly recruited, trained, and managed by ISI handler Iqbal Kana — a known operative across the border.
Revealed: Operation Sindoor Exposes Chilling Spy Chat
In the aftermath of Operation Sindoor — India's precision retaliation after the Pahalgam attack — investigators intercepted voice chats and text exchanges between Iqbal Kana and Noman Ilahi.
In one such chat, Noman pleads:
"Sir, please forgive me. What is my fault?"
Iqbal responds coldly:
"You will do my work. Give me two army prints."
Noman asks for two days’ time. Iqbal’s reply?
"Go to Kashmir and bring Kent’s photo."
These weren't just idle requests — Iqbal was actively directing Noman to gather intelligence and track military activity.
Targeting Trains to J&K: Espionage with Chilling Intent
Another disturbing voice note reveals Iqbal instructing Noman to track trains moving through Jalandhar and Amritsar into Jammu & Kashmir:
“Send the location of the trains… go and see how many people are coming in them.”
Noman complied — and then immediately deleted the chat.
Six Passports, Cross-Border Travel, Suspicious Docs
When Noman was arrested, police recovered six Indian passports in his name — all with entries from Pakistan. One suspicious document tied to Pakistan was also seized.
These details confirm what security agencies feared: Noman was not acting alone. He was part of a deep-rooted ISI operation to build a network inside Punjab and Haryana for gathering real-time intelligence on military movements and infrastructure.
Noman’s Background: A Perfect Target for ISI Recruitment
Investigators believe Noman Ilahi was a prime ISI recruit for several reasons:
- His father, Ahsan Ilahi, was involved in making passports — an expertise Noman inherited.
- He had no family obligations — the youngest of six siblings, all married.
- Most importantly, his maternal relatives lived in Pakistan, giving him easy cross-border access and a cover story.
Two years ago, ISI handler Iqbal Kana assigned Noman the task of recruiting local agents across Haryana and Punjab — to act as Pakistan’s eyes and ears on Indian soil.
Photo, Video, and Money Transfer Training
During interrogation, it was revealed that Noman was trained on how to capture intelligence through photos and videos, how to transmit data securely, and how to receive money through local networks.
Police also uncovered a money trail from Pakistan, routed through a public service center in Kairana, where Noman allegedly facilitated covert bank transfers. Authorities are now verifying whether Noman’s training took place in India or directly in Pakistan.
