MS Dhoni Record: Chennai Super Kings team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni completed his 5000 runs in the Indian Premier League. In the 16th season of IPL, this position was achieved in the match being played against Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants at Chennai ground. Dhoni came out to bat in the last over of the innings, in which he crossed the 5000-run mark with two consecutive sixes in the first two balls.

With this, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has now become the 7th player in IPL history to achieve this feat, for which he took 208 innings. Earlier in IPL, Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, David Warner, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina and AB de Villiers crossed this figure.

After nearly 4 years, Dhoni, who came out to bat at the Chepauk ground in Chennai, started his innings brilliantly and hit a six while playing towards the wide third man off Mark Wood. Immediately after this, Dhoni completed his 5000 runs by taking the ball across the boundary line while playing towards deep square leg on the very next ball.
