Kolkata Knight Riders beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 81 runs in today's IPL match. Chasing a target of 205 runs, RCB's batsmen were under pressure against the spin bowlers and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. This is Kolkata Knight Riders' first win in the current season.

Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 81 runs in the ninth match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Bengaluru were given a huge target of 205 runs to win. Against which the team of Faf Dublessis was completely helpless. Shardul Thakur played an important role in Kolkata's win, scoring a crucial 68 runs. Kolkata Knight Riders entered the field to play an IPL match at home after 1438 days. It was a big challenge to win at home against Nitish Rana's team. The match was against Royal Challengers Bangalore riding on a winning streak. But in the presence of Bollywood actor and KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan, the team put up a strong performance. KKR thrashed RCB at the historic Eden Gardens Stadium.

KKR beat a star-studded RCB side in the 9th match of IPL to get their first win in 2 matches of the current season. KKR's spinners were also the heroes after Shardul Thakur and Rinku Singh who started to rein in RCB from the start and maintained it till the end. Varun Chakraborty (4 wickets), Sunil Narine (2 wickets), debutant Suyesh Sharma (3 wickets) easily caught the RCB giants in their spin at Eden Gardens. Chasing a target of 205 runs set by KKR, RCB managed to manage just 123 runs in 17.4 overs and lost the match by 81 runs. This was the 32nd encounter between the two teams in the IPL. KKR have won 18 matches while RCB have won 14 matches. This is KKR's 7th win out of 12 against RCB in Kolkata.

Captain Faf du Plessis scored the highest 23 runs for RCB. When Virat Kohli was dismissed for 21 runs. Michael Bracewell contributed 19 runs. David Willey was dismissed for 10 runs. Dinesh Karthik scored 9 runs and gathered the pavilion. When Glenn Maxwell was out by 5 runs.

KKR scored 204 for 7
After Rahmanullah Gurbaz (57 runs), Kolkata Knight Riders posted a mammoth score of 204 for 7 with the help of Shardul Thakur's storming 68 and Rinku Singh's 46. KKR's score was 89 runs for five wickets in the 12th over. Rinku and Thakur then put on a century partnership for the sixth wicket in 47 balls to take the team close to 200 runs. Thakur played the role of Sankatmochan and scored his first half-century in the IPL with 9 fours and 3 sixes in 29 balls.
