Chennai Super Kings, who finished ninth in IPL 2022, have reached the finals of this season. CSK has reached the final round of IPL for the 10th time after defeating Gujarat Titans by 15 runs in the qualifier match. Mahendra Singh Dhoni's captaincy was instrumental in reaching the final.

Dhoni may have retired from international cricket but the talent of captaincy is still within him. In the qualifier match against Gujarat Titans on Tuesday, he turned the whole game once again with his mental game. During the batting of Gujarat captain Hardik Pandya, Dhoni showed him the way to the pavilion by playing with his strength and putting the valuable wicket in his team's bag.
When Hardik Pandya was at the crease, Dhoni played with his mind and changed the fielding positions of the players on the ground. In the first five overs, Dhoni got the fast bowlers to bowl, but in the sixth over, he got the spinner Mahesh Tikhsna to bowl. Hardik tried to cut the fastball over Moin Ali, but the ball went to the fielder. Seeing this, Dhoni called fielding Ravindra Jadeja from backward square to backward point. Hardik hit a shot on the next ball which went straight to Ravindra Jadeja.

Ravi Shastri, who was doing commentary after Hardik Pandya's dismissal, said- "Dhoni played with Hardik's ego."
After the match, Dhoni himself said that he is the captain who kept changing fielding positions and troubled the fielders. He said- "When you expect to get a wicket, you change the position of the field. I can be a very troublesome captain. I keep changing the position of fielders to two-three feet. My only concern with my fielders is There is only one request that they keep their eyes fixed on me. If the catch is missed, there will be no reaction from my side. Just keep their eyes on me.
Dhoni may not have been able to do wonders with the bat, but once again he did wonders with his captaincy. Due to his captaincy, CSK got a crucial wicket in the form of Hardik Pandya, which proved to be helpful for the team to reach the final.
