(Internet connections increased to 102 crore in 11 years)

Digital India Internet Connection: In this digital world, the internet is accessible to everyone. People now easily accomplish many tasks through the internet. Just as smartphones have become a part of people's lives, the internet is also gradually making its way into their lives. It's worth noting that the Digital India campaign has completed 11 years. According to the government, this initiative has taken digital services, internet connectivity, and technological infrastructure to new heights in the country.

Internet connections increased 4 times.

According to the government, under this campaign, the number of internet connections in India has surpassed 1,028.6 million today. At the same time, the cost of mobile data has now dropped to just 8 to 10 rupees per GB. According to government data, internet connections in India were approximately 251.5 million in 2014, which is projected to increase to 1,028.6 million by 2026.

There is also a major expansion in broadband connectivity.

Furthermore, broadband services have expanded rapidly in the country. In 2014, there were 61 million broadband connections, which increased to 995.6 million by December 2025. Fast internet speeds are now available not only in cities but also in rural areas, allowing people to connect with Digital India. Furthermore, the benefits of digital services have also reached rural areas. Here, people are using the internet for everything from withdrawing money to accessing healthcare.

This became a big reason.

The government believes that the biggest impact of the Digital India campaign has been the reduction in internet prices. While 1 GB of mobile data cost around ₹269 in 2014, it now costs only ₹8 to ₹10. Lower prices and faster internet have further encouraged people to join the campaign. The use of services such as online education, e-commerce, digital payments, and e-governance has increased significantly.

Fastest 5G rollout

The government says that India has established itself as one of the fastest 5G rollouts in the world. Today, 5G services have reached approximately 99.9 percent of the country's districts. Furthermore, the fast network has further accelerated internet usage among people.
