Video of a North Indian threatening an auto driver to speak in Hindi in Bengaluru goes viral. People are angry on social media, debate has started on imposing language.

Bengaluru: The dominance of North Indians coming to not only Bengaluru but also many South Indian states including Maharashtra for livelihood is increasing. In Maharashtra too, many videos threatening Marathi speakers to learn Hindi had gone viral earlier. Amidst widespread resentment against Hindi speakers who have left the state and are threatening the locals, a North Indian threatened a local Kannada speaking auto driver to speak Hindi. This video has now gone viral on social media and people are getting angry at the arrogance of this North Indian.
In the viral video, the man is seen threatening the auto driver, saying, "If you want to stay in Bengaluru, learn Hindi." To this, the auto driver replied, "What can I do, you learn Kannada. You have come to Bengaluru, so learn Kannada. I will not speak Hindi." Then a girl dragged the Hindi-speaking man away.
A person named Vinay S Reddy posted this video on Twitter and wrote, "Hindi is not our national language." This video posted last night has been viewed more than six lakh times and people are debating for and against it. This tweet has been shared by more than 650 people and more than 400 people have commented.
Whatever area we go to, we should respect the local culture and language. This is a tradition. Even when we go abroad, Indians learn the language and adopt its customs. But some North Indians are ready to learn foreign culture and language, but their ego comes in the way of learning the local language in their own country. Lakhs of people from different parts of the country work in IT City Bangalore. Local people say that they should respect the language and culture here. But instead of doing so, they threaten the local people to learn Hindi.
One user commented, "This arrogance is only of Hindi speakers. People of other languages do not ask locals to speak their language. Any language should be flexible in nature, but Hindi speakers only know how to impose their language on others." Another user asked, "I do not support Kannada hooliganism, but the Hindi speaking person seen in the video deserves to be beaten up. He has come from outside and wants the locals to speak his language?"
A user asked, "Why so much hatred for the Hindi language?" To this, another user replied, "How would you feel if you go to Germany and ask me to speak your language?" Another user wrote, "I am from Tamil Nadu and live in Bangalore. I am surprised to see that everyone here speaks Hindi. 70% of them are North Indians. They don't even respect Kannada, the language of this land. I respect Kannada because it is giving me work and a good environment."
