INDW vs ENGW Test Highlights Lord's: India made history by defeating England by 270 runs. India became the first country in women's cricket to win a Test match at Lord's.

 

 

Historic win at Lord's after 142 years

India defeated England by 270 runs. This was the first women's Test match at Lord's in its 142-year history, and the Indian women's team made history by winning it. Host England were set a target of 457 runs in the fourth innings, but were all out for 186.

After establishing a massive 115-run lead in the first innings, Team India declared their second innings at 341. Chasing a target of 457, England were almost certain to lose five wickets for just 59 runs on the third day. Amy Jones and Sophie Ecclestone scored half-centuries to keep the English team's hopes alive, but in the end, the team could only manage 186 runs.

Team India's first innings was bundled out for 285. Contrary to everyone's expectations, hosts England were bowled out for just 170. Team India, having taken a substantial lead, declared their second innings at 341. Kranti Gaur took seven wickets for India, while Sneh Rana took six.

Kranti and Yastika were the heroes of victory.

Kranti Gaur and Yastika Bhatia were the main contributors to India's historic victory. In fact, Kranti Gaur took a five-wicket haul in the first innings, becoming the first female cricketer to take a five-wicket haul at Lord's in a Test match. Team India, which had taken a 115-run lead, saw Yastika Bhatia score a century of 113 in the second innings. This was the first century of her international career and the first century scored in a women's Test match at Lord's.

Indian girls took revenge.

India's men's team is also currently touring England. Team India, captained by Shreyas Iyer, lost the T20 series 0-4. However, India's women's team avenged their men's defeat by winning the first Test match at Lord's by 270 runs.

'Historic' victory after 142 years

In fact, the first cricket match at Lord's was played in 1884. 142 years after that match between the men's teams of Australia and England, a Test match was played between women's teams at Lord's. A women's team had to wait 142 years for a Test match to be won at Lord's. Fortunately, Team India, captained by Harmanpreet Kaur, has achieved this historic milestone.
