Smartphones: Today's advanced smartphones come with software updates and many security features.
(Software support is about to end on these smartphones)
Smartphones: There are many advanced smartphones available in the market today, which people buy based on their needs. However, when purchasing a smartphone, people often check its battery, camera, and other features. But the most important thing is software updates. It is believed that as long as your smartphone receives software updates, it will function properly. So today we are going to tell you about such smartphones that will soon stop receiving software updates from the company.
What do you get in a software update?
For your information, today's advanced smartphones include software updates along with numerous security features. These security updates keep your smartphone's data secure and your phone running smoothly. While update notifications annoy many people, the real concern begins when these notifications stop coming. This means the company will no longer fix new security flaws found in your phone.
What happens when support ends
It's worth noting that when a smartphone's support period ends, it doesn't immediately become useless. The phone continues to function as usual, but it no longer receives new Android or iOS updates. The biggest problem is that security patches also stop working.
In such a situation, if a new vulnerability is discovered in the operating system over time, a fix won't reach your phone via an update. This increases the risk of problems like cybercrime and data theft.
Google Pixel users beware
According to reports, Google has extended the update period for its Pixel smartphones in recent years. The Pixel 8 and subsequent models will receive updates for seven years. However, older Pixel phones only receive software and security support for five years.
Now the smartphones which will stop receiving updates by 2027 include Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.
What is Apple's approach?
Apple doesn't publicly release an iPhone's end-of-life date like Android companies do. However, iPhones typically receive iOS updates for five to seven years after launch.
With the upcoming iOS 27 update, it's believed that the iPhone SE (2020), iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max may receive the update for the last time. However, Apple continues to release important security patches for older iPhones even after major iOS updates have stopped.
Support for these smartphones will end
For your information, Samsung provides updates for different periods depending on the different categories of phones. The flagship Galaxy S and Fold series receive a maximum of seven years of support, while mid-range and budget phones receive updates for four to six years.
In such a situation, software support for models like Samsung Galaxy A14, Galaxy A54 5G, Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold4, Galaxy Z Flip4, Galaxy A53 5G, Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy S21 FE 5G, Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3 will end by the end of 2027.
