Who doesn't want to build a luxury home of their dreams, but have you ever wondered how much it would cost if someone thought of building a house on the lines of the White House? Let us understand here.

The cost of building a house like the White House
Everyone aspires to build their dream home, one that looks no less than a grand palace. When it comes to luxurious buildings, the White House in America is often the first name that comes to mind. With its white marble-like brilliance, towering pillars, and regal design, this building is so captivating that anyone who sees it is captivated. But imagine how much it would cost if someone wanted to build a house exactly like the White House.
What is the rate of luxury construction at this time?
If we consider the White House in the United States, it spans 16 acres. Its total construction area is approximately 55,000 square feet. If you were to build a similar structure in India, the structure alone could cost 150-200 million rupees or more. However, if you were to build a 5,000-square-foot bungalow on a large plot, modeling the White House's exterior—its neoclassical architecture, imposing pillars, and white color—the cost alone for basic construction, such as collars, beams, finishing, and paint, could cost approximately 1.5 to 30 million rupees.
What will be the cost per square foot for infrastructure?
In the Indian construction sector, building a luxury villa costs crores of rupees compared to a typical house. While ordinary houses can be built for 1500 to 2000 rupees per square foot, a premium bungalow with a unique design and intricate carvings, like the White House, can cost upwards of 3500 to 5000 rupees per square foot. Buildings of this magnitude require not only the construction of the structure, but also the subsequent finishing, front elevation, massive pillars, and massive dome, requiring highly skilled craftsmen and expensive architects, as not everyone can handle such intricate and exquisite work.
Price of rebar for a foundation and a strong structure
It's crucial for a tall, luxurious building to remain strong; otherwise, there's a risk of collapse in a natural disaster. Iron rebars provide strength to the building. Approximately 3,000 to 3,500 kilograms of rebar are required to construct a 1,000-square-foot area. Currently, the price of high-quality rebar is between 60 and 75 rupees per kilogram. Consequently, the cost of rebar alone for this building could cost 2.5 to 3 lakh rupees.
Cement budget
A strong foundation, roof casting, and wall plastering require the right amount and quality of cement. For a 1,000-square-foot house, the total construction cost would require approximately 350 to 400 bags of cement. Currently, a 50-kg bag of a good cement brand is priced between ₹350 and ₹400. Based on this, the cost of cement bags alone for this grand construction would be around ₹1.4 to ₹2 lakh.
The mathematics of bricks, sand, gravel, and wages
The price for shaping the structure is 6 to 8 rupees per brick. Consequently, around 15,000 to 20,000 bricks may be required to build a house, bringing the total cost to around 1.5 to 2 lakh rupees. Sand and gravel cost 1.2 lakh to 1.8 lakh rupees at 45 to 60 rupees per cubic foot. Gravel, tiles, or marble cost 10 to 15 lakh rupees separately, and masons and labor charge 200 to 300 rupees per square foot, or 2-3 lakh rupees. To achieve a White House-like look, special work is required on the exterior pillars and white paint, which increases the total budget by 20 to 30 percent. In this scenario, you'll need to budget crores of rupees. The more luxurious the house, the higher the price.
