This report is shocking and frightening for everyone and we are also warning you. Doctors are claiming that the way the vision ability of children is decreasing in the coming days, it seems that a large population of the country may have problems seeing in the future. Dr. Radhika Tandon, head of the RP Center of Delhi-based AIIMS, claimed that the number of myopic children is increasing very rapidly.
Former Chief of AIIMS RP Center, Dr. Jeevan Singh Titiyal, in a special conversation with TV9 Bharatvarsh, claimed that according to WHO data, the way the ability of children to see is decreasing by the year 2050, it is being said that in the coming few years, it will become difficult to find people for the Army, Air Force and Bullet Train drivers.
What do the statistics say
Dr. Jeevan Singh Titiyal said that till the year 2010, the health condition of children in rural areas was quite good. Despite this, if we talk about the year 2017, a rapid decline has been seen in it. He said that now the situation has become such that there is not much difference in the eye health of urban and rural children.
what is the reason for this
In recent years, it has been observed that children's vision is declining. There are many reasons for this, including increased screen time, poor diet, genetic diseases (such as retinitis pigmentosa), cerebral or cortical visual impairment (CVI), and nearsightedness (myopia). Some children are found to be malnourished. This lack of nutrients necessary for eye health can also affect vision.
are also suffering from many diseases
Dr Titiyal said that if we talk about eye diseases, some retina related diseases like retinitis pigmentosa can cause low vision in children. Along with this, children are also falling prey to Cerebral Visual Impairment (CVI), which is a condition caused when the brain has trouble processing visual information, even if the eyes are healthy.
What are the vision standards for Indian Army?
To join the Indian Army, candidates should aim for 6/6 (20/20) vision without correction. Myopia should not exceed 3.5 dioptres (D) for near-sightedness, while hyperopia and astigmatism should not exceed 3.5 dioptres (D).
If the power of your glasses is more than the prescribed standards, it may prevent you from joining the army. However, you can wear proper glasses after joining the service. Before joining, it is very important to get your vision checked to ensure that you meet the prescribed standards.
