EPFO Online Services Remain Suspended Until July 2; PF Withdrawals and Claims Temporarily Unavailable

Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) subscribers will have to wait a little longer to access several online services, as the organisation has extended its scheduled maintenance period. Millions of provident fund account holders and employers are currently unable to use key digital services, including filing PF claims, checking account balances, and downloading passbooks.

According to the latest notice published on the EPFO portal, member and employer services will remain unavailable until 11:59 PM on July 1, 2026. The organisation expects its online platforms to resume normal operations from 12:00 AM on July 2, 2026, subject to the successful completion of the ongoing system upgrade.

Why Are EPFO Services Currently Unavailable?

The temporary shutdown is part of a major technology upgrade being carried out by EPFO to modernise its claim processing system.

The organisation is implementing a software upgrade along with database migration and consolidation, a process that began on June 26, 2026.

According to EPFO, the objective is to improve the speed of claim processing, strengthen system security, enhance platform reliability, and deliver a better digital experience for members and employers once the upgrade is completed.

The service interruption is planned maintenance and is not related to any technical fault or system failure.

Which Online Services Are Affected?

During the maintenance period, both the Member Interface and Employer Interface remain inaccessible.

The following services are temporarily unavailable:

  • Online PF claim submission.
  • PF passbook download.
  • UAN-related online services.
  • PF balance enquiry.
  • Claim status tracking.
  • Profile and account updates.
  • Employer compliance and administrative services.

Subscribers attempting to access these facilities may encounter maintenance notifications until services are restored.

What About Claims Submitted Earlier?

EPFO has clarified that new online claims cannot be submitted during the maintenance period.

In addition, claims that were submitted before June 26, 2026, are also expected to resume processing only after the online systems become operational again.

Normal processing is likely to continue once the maintenance work has been completed and services are restored.

UMANG App Services Also Temporarily Suspended

The maintenance work also affects EPFO services available through the UMANG mobile application.

Until the systems are restored, users will not be able to access several digital facilities on the app, including:

  • Checking PF account balance.
  • Filing online claims.
  • Tracking claim status.
  • Registering grievances.
  • Accessing Scheme Certificate services.
  • Using Digital Life Certificate (Jeevan Pramaan) related facilities.

The temporary suspension applies across EPFO's digital platforms.

Why Is the Upgrade Important?

EPFO says the ongoing infrastructure upgrade is aimed at making its digital ecosystem more efficient and secure.

Once completed, the improvements are expected to:

  • Speed up PF claim processing.
  • Improve portal stability and performance.
  • Strengthen data protection.
  • Provide a smoother user experience.
  • Reduce delays in online transactions.

The organisation believes these changes will enhance service quality for millions of PF subscribers across the country.

Need Assistance During the Downtime?

EPFO has requested members and employers to cooperate during the temporary maintenance period.

Subscribers requiring urgent assistance or information while the online platforms remain unavailable can contact the organisation through its official customer support helpline at 14470.

Services Expected to Resume on July 2

If the maintenance work is completed as scheduled, EPFO's online services are expected to become available again from July 2, 2026.

Members planning to withdraw PF funds, submit fresh claims, download passbooks, or use other online facilities are advised to wait until the systems are officially restored before attempting to access the portal or the UMANG application.
