Ekta Kapoor recently gave an interview in which she made several revelations about one of her apps!

Father Jitendra was angry with Ekta Kapoor

TV and film producer Ekta Kapoor is often in the news for her unique content. When she launched her OTT platform, ALTT (ALTBalaji), it generated considerable buzz. However, in a recent interview, Ekta Kapoor made an interesting revelation about her personal life. She revealed that her parents were not at all happy with her decision.

Ekta wanted to create different content for the youth

In an interview with Usha Kakde, Ekta Kapoor revealed that when she decided to launch the ALTT app, there was a lot of debate at home. Her parents didn't want her to launch such a platform, as she had a strong and respected image in the industry. Ekta has also received the Padma Shri award, so the family felt that an app with bold content would tarnish her image. However, Ekta believed that she had created family-oriented and traditional stories for a long time, so she now wanted to create different content for the youth.

I had to listen to taunts at home every day...

Ekta also laughingly revealed that she faced a lot of taunts at home because of this. She faced even more taunts after starting ALTT than she did for not getting married. From early in the morning, her parents would tell her to shut down the platform. Her parents began behaving like in-laws, and eventually, Ekta Kapoor and her mother, Shobha Kapoor, resigned from the platform.

Indian government banned ALTT app in 2025

It should be noted that in 2025, the Indian government banned ALTT and several other OTT platforms for displaying obscene and objectionable content that violated regulatory regulations. At that time, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting blacklisted ALTT, along with 24 other OTT platforms like ULLU, Desiflix, and Big Shots. However, Ekta Kapoor later clarified that she and her mother had already parted ways with ALTT in June 2021 and no longer have any connection with it. She is currently focusing on her production company, Balaji Telefilms.
