India At Commonwealth Games 2026: Indian athletes are consistently winning medals. PM Modi has praised the athletes for their excellent performance in athletics.

India's impressive performance at the Commonwealth Games
Indian athletes are bringing home medal after medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games. India currently ranks eighth in the medal table with 15 medals. Several Indian boxers have already secured medals in their respective events. In field athletics, Indian athletes have brought glory to the country by winning gold and silver medals. The Prime Minister of India has congratulated all the athletes on their medal wins.
Dilip Gavit and Mohammed Basil were the most impressive performers. These two Indian athletes captured the gold and silver medals in the men's 100m T47 Para Athletics event. Gavit won the gold and Basil the silver. Murali Sreeshankar also won the silver medal in the long jump with a jump of 8.09m.
PM Modi expressed pride in the athletes.
PM Modi praised Dilip Gavit and commended him for setting a Commonwealth Games record in 10.71 seconds in the 100-meter dash.
India's Mohammed Basil finished second in the same event, winning the silver medal with a time of 10.83 seconds, which also set a season record.
Murali Sreeshankar held onto the gold medal position for a considerable amount of time, but ultimately had to settle for silver. Prime Minister Narendra Modi described Sreeshankar's performance as an inspiration for the youth.
