While Aamir Khan’s much-anticipated Sitare Zameen Par prepares to hit theaters on June 20, the superstar is already making headlines for his next big project. Aamir is reuniting with acclaimed filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani—his collaborator on blockbuster hits 3 Idiots and PK—for a ₹1000 crore biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke, the father of Indian cinema.
The film, slated for release on April 30, 2027, marking Phalke’s 157th birth anniversary, promises a once-in-a-lifetime cinematic experience. Pre-production is expected to begin by October this year.
Sources reveal that Aamir Khan will undergo a major transformation, including physical changes, to authentically portray Phalke. The biopic aims not only to celebrate the life and legacy of Dadasaheb Phalke but also to chronicle the birth and evolution of Indian cinema.
Phalke’s family has given their full support to the project, and both Aamir and Hirani are deeply involved in shaping the film’s vision.
With the track record of their previous collaborations and a staggering budget, this film is already being counted among the most ambitious in Bollywood history.
