AI Agents in TCS: TCS has said that it will not hire as many new employees as before.

AI Agents in TCS: Alarm bells have rung for software engineers. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) said it is moving toward AI-driven operations and will have as many AI agents working for it as humans within the next three years. Company Chairman N Chandrasekaran stated that TCS's hiring patterns will also change, and AI will now be fully integrated into business operations. This means the company will now reduce human hiring and instead hire AI agents. Chandrasekaran also stated that new opportunities will emerge for those with the right skills.

TCS will no longer hire as before.

During the company's annual meeting, several shareholders expressed concern about its recruitment plans. Responding to this, Chandrasekaran clarified that TCS will no longer hire as many new employees as before. The company has approximately 500,000 employees, and the day is not far off when 500,000 AI agents will be working for the company. This will impact hiring, and new employees will not be hired in large numbers as before. However, he also stated that while the pace of hiring may slow, the company will need new talent for AI technologies.

AI is a must-have skill for future jobs.

Despite increasing automation due to AI, TCS believes there is still a need for people in the workforce, but employees will have to adapt to changing demands. Chandrasekaran said that to retain jobs in the coming years, employees will need to strengthen their AI skills . It's worth noting that the company recently laid off 26,000 employees, which exceeded its own estimates.

The number of employees is not essential for growth.

For decades, the IT services industry relied on employee numbers, which is how companies acquired new clients. Now, TCS says this model is changing. The company will no longer rely solely on employee numbers to drive revenue. Chandrasekaran stated that for TCS, AI is no longer a futuristic concept but an ongoing transformation. It's worth noting that many other companies around the world are also reducing their workforce and relying on AI agents, resulting in significant job losses.
