Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) has achieved a major breakthrough. The company has bagged a mega project worth ₹4,700 crore for a 4,500 MW renewable power grid in Maharashtra.

AESL wins Rs 4,700 crore mega transmission project in Maharashtra
Business tycoon Gautam Adani's company, Adani Energy Solutions Limited ( AESL), has achieved a major breakthrough. The company has secured a major deal worth ₹4,700 crore for a 4,500 MW renewable power grid in Maharashtra.
The company's contract in Maharashtra aims to transmit 4,500 megawatts (MW) of renewable and storage power in the state. This means that electricity generated from renewable energy sources like solar and wind will be delivered to areas with the highest demand.
When will the work be completed?
Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) has a 36-month (3-year) deadline to complete the project. This means the company must complete the project within this stipulated timeframe. The company will develop the project under a special purpose vehicle (SPV) called Satara Power Transmission Limited.
Kandarp Patel, CEO of Adani Energy Solutions Limited, said, "Pumped storage projects are playing a vital role in India's clean energy transition by providing the flexibility and reliability needed to store large-scale renewable energy in the grid. The Satara Transmission Project will form an essential transmission backbone, delivering renewable energy as well as storing it."
“This will strengthen power connectivity between southern and western India,” he added. He further adds that AESL is committed to building future-ready transmission infrastructure that promotes renewable energy growth, improves grid stability, and supports India's long-term decarbonization goals.
What will be the benefit of the project?
This project, primarily located along the border of Western Maharashtra and Karnataka, will deliver green energy to Maharashtra's major industrial load centers. It will also support the growing pumped-storage ecosystem in Satara, Pune, and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). A brand-new high-voltage substation will be constructed in the Satara district of Maharashtra. A new transmission line will be laid between Kolhapur and Satara. The existing pooling station in Kolhapur will also be upgraded as part of the project.
This vast transmission network, built by the company, will primarily transport renewable energy generated in Karnataka to Maharashtra. As previously mentioned, the electricity generated and stored on this grid network will be delivered to Maharashtra's major industrial and high-demand areas, such as Satara, Pune, and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). The company's network will include 562 circuit kilometers of new transmission lines and 9,000 MVA of transformation capacity.
