Ranveer Allahabadia: Maharashtra Cyber Police has registered a case against podcaster Ranveer Allahabadia, comedian Samay Raina and other artists for allegedly creating pornographic content and airing it on Raina's 'India's Got Latent' show. The case has sparked a lot of controversy. This is the second FIR against the two, before this Assam Police had registered an FIR on Monday.
Assam CM also commented
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had announced on social media that a case has been registered against Allahbadia, Raina and others in his state on Monday. Apart from this, a senior official confirmed the matter to the Indian Express and said that the police have registered a case under Section 67 (transmission of obscene material in electronic form) of the Information Technology Act, among other sections.

The cyber police have registered a case against 30 people for allegedly using obscene and indecent language during the show. A senior police officer from the Maharashtra state cyber police said, "On Monday evening, we registered a case against 30 people, including the cast, host, judges and contestants of all the 6 episodes of India's Got Talent and we will issue summons to all of them, asking them to join the police investigation."
Women's commission also sent notice
The National Commission for Women has also expressed deep concern over the derogatory comments made on 'India's Got Latent' and has summoned them on February 17. The commission has taken serious note of the vulgar and objectionable comments made by Allahbadia, Samay Raina, Apoorva Makhija, Jaspreet Singh and Ashish Chanchlani as well as the show's producers Tushar Pujari and Saurabh Bothra.
Mumbai Police has summoned Allahbadia Raina and other artists present in the show. In response to the summons, the lawyer of Ashish Chanchlani and another artist reached Khar Police Station on Tuesday evening.
Amidst the controversy, politicians and film personalities have termed his statement objectionable. Some have demanded a ban on the show, while others have advocated freedom of expression. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Gorakhpur Ravi Kishan called the entire incident sad. He said, 'Ranveer Allahabadia has broken the law in the experiment he has done. I don't know but if the parliamentary committee has taken any decision, he will be called.'
Imtiaz Ali also gave his opinion
During an interview, filmmaker Imtiaz Ali and actor Manoj Bajpayee also expressed their views on this issue. Ali said, 'I think people should do what they enjoy. Pornography is a topic that seems bad and anyone would agree with it, but people are immature, so their mistakes should not be taken seriously.'
What did Manoj Bajpayee and Raza Murad say?
Bajpayee said that people who are achieving success at a young age should understand the environment. He said, 'That is why I say please read the newspaper.' Actor Raza Murad said, 'Some people say such vulgar things, some people abuse and there is no ban on them yet, but better late than never. I would like to say that democracy does not mean spreading obscenity, our constitution does not allow this.'
Mukesh Khanna called it shameful
Mukesh Khanna said Allahabadia's comment was 'obscene and irresponsible'. He said, 'The problem is that today's youth have been given too much freedom in the name of 'freedom of expression'. There should be a limit to everything, even freedom of expression...he made a shameful statement.'
Rakhi defended
Amidst the criticism of Allahabadia and Raina, some people also came out in their support. Actress Rakhi Sawant defended Allahabadia and appealed to the public to forgive him.
