We often see some children urinate in bed while sleeping at night. This can be due to factors like hormones, deep sleep, constipation, or stress. Know when to consult a doctor.

Urinary disease in children
We often see that even after growing up, some children still urinate in bed at night. Parents scold them for this, but instead of embarrassing them, it's important to understand the problem. Medically, this condition is called nocturnal enuresis. Sometimes, a child's body produces more urine at night, or their bladder isn't fully developed enough to hold urine overnight. In such cases, the child doesn't feel the need to urinate during sleep, and the bed becomes wet.
Hormones and deep sleep cause
At night, the body produces a specific hormone that helps reduce urine production. Some children, due to a low level of this hormone, produce more urine at night. Meanwhile, some children sleep so deeply that they don't wake up even after receiving signals of a full bladder. Furthermore, if parents experienced this problem in childhood, their children may also be more likely to develop it.
Do not ignore constipation and stress as well.
Sometimes, constipation can also cause bedwetting in children. The accumulation of stool in the intestines puts pressure on the bladder, making it difficult to hold urine. Furthermore, changing schools, major changes in the family, or mental stress can also trigger this problem.
When should one see a doctor?
If your child continues to wet the bed regularly after the age of 5, it's best to consult a doctor. Especially if your child hasn't wet the bed for several months but suddenly starts doing so again, it's important to determine the cause. If you experience symptoms like pain during urination, excessive thirst, or frequent urination during the day, consult a doctor.
