Gaza Peace Summit 2025: Netanyahu said that Donald Trump is the best friend Israel has ever had in the White House, after which slogans in support of Trump started being raised in the House.

Israel will award US President Donald Trump its highest civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Honor, for his work on the Gaza peace deal. Meanwhile, Trump and Netanyahu met with the families of hostages released from Hamas captivity at the Israeli Parliament. Trump was warmly welcomed by all the lawmakers, standing and applauding. Israeli Parliament Speaker Amir Ohana described Trump as a giant in Jewish history.

'Trump's name will be etched in Israel's legacy'

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, addressing his lawmakers, heaped praise on Trump. Referring to the US president in his speech, he said, "Today is a day filled with emotion. Your (Trump's) name is etched in our nation's legacy. It's already etched in the history of humanity. We have waited so long for this moment, and I want to personally thank you on behalf of the entire nation."

Trump-Trump slogans echo in Israeli parliament.

He added that no American president has ever done so much for Israel. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has nominated US President Trump for his country's highest award.

Netanyahu said, "We have paid a heavy price for this war, but our enemies now understand how powerful and determined Israel is. They (Hamas) promised to bring all the hostages back home, and they have done so. I am committed to peace."

Referring to Trump, Netanyahu said, "Two months ago, you fully supported my decision to send the IDF into Hamas's last stronghold in Gaza City. You agreed with me that this military pressure would help free the hostages. We know that despite all the criticism and opposition, we were right."
