T20 World Cup Super 8 Format
The 10th edition of the T20 World Cup (T20 World Cup 2026) began with 20 teams, of which 12 have now qualified. Eight teams remain in contention for the title, with the Super 8 round beginning on Saturday, February 21st. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, England, West Indies, New Zealand, and South Africa will play in this round. Learn about the full format and how the semifinalists will be decided.
The T20 World Cup 2026 group stage featured three matches per day, but this will not be the case in the Super 8 round. Most days will feature a single match per day, with three days featuring two matches per day. The Super 8 round will begin with New Zealand vs. Pakistan and conclude with India vs. West Indies.
T20 World Cup 2026 Super-8 format
All teams in the Super 8 round have been divided into two groups. Each team will play three matches, playing one match against each team in their group, just as in the league stage. After all matches are completed, the top two teams from both groups will qualify for the semi-finals, while the third and fourth-placed teams will be eliminated.
- Group 1: India, South Africa, West Indies, Zimbabwe
- Group 2: England, New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
The top team from Group 1 will play the second-placed team from Group 2 in the semi-finals. The second semi-final will be between the second-placed team from Group 1 and the top team from Group 2. If Pakistan reaches the semi-finals or final, that match will also be played in Sri Lanka.
