Prince Rahim Aga Khan V, the 50th Imam of the Ismaili community, will be visiting India from September 9 to 15. During this visit, he will meet with the President, Vice President, Prime Minister, Home Minister, and Foreign Minister.

Prince Rahim Aga Khan V, the 50th Imam of the Ismaili community, will visit India from September 9 to 15, 2026. During this visit, which is being held at the invitation of the Vice President of India, Aga Khan V will meet with the President, Prime Minister, Home Minister, and Foreign Minister. This is his first visit to India since assuming office as the 50th Imam.
Meeting with the President and the Prime Minister
During his visit to India, Aga Khan V will meet with the President and the Prime Minister. He will also meet with the Home Minister and the Foreign Minister. He is scheduled to hold talks with the Vice President on September 10th. These meetings are expected to discuss the long-standing relationship between India and the Ismaili Imamat, as well as issues related to development and community initiatives.
Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Hyderabad will also be visited.
In addition to Delhi, Prince Rahim Aga Khan V will visit Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Hyderabad, where the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) has several ongoing development and community projects.
The Ismaili community in India is present in many parts of the country, including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Punjab.
'Waiting to meet the Indian community'
According to a report published in The Siasat Daily, Prince Rahim Aga Khan V said he was looking forward to meeting the Jamaat in India. He also requested Ismailis living outside India not to travel to India during his visit so that he could devote his full attention to the local community.
In his message, he described the Indian community as his "most beloved spiritual children" and said they are always in his thoughts and prayers.

Former BJP spokesperson Shahzad Poonawalla welcomed the announcement of Prince Rahim Aga Khan V's visit to India. He said the visit reflects the long-standing ties of friendship, mutual respect, and shared values between India and the Ismaili Imamat.
He became the 50th Imam in February 2025.
Prince Rahim Aga Khan V succeeded his father, the late Prince Shah Karim al-Husseini Aga Khan IV, as the 50th hereditary Imam of the Ismaili community in February 2025.
Before becoming Imam, Prince Rahim Aga Khan held various responsibilities within the Aga Khan Development Network, including those related to the environment, climate change, and economic development.
