Before PM Modi's speech in the House, Benjamin Netanyahu called him his brother and sang praises of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Israeli Parliament. Netanyahu said in the Israeli Parliament, "India is our great friend."

He said, "Narendra Modi, my dear friend," these are not just words. I can even say that more than a friend, we are brothers. In many ways, we are brothers. When you were here last time, we were both on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea, and I said, "Why don't we take off our shoes and walk in the water?" We wanted to purify it, and we did so with the help of Israeli technology.

'Welcome to Jerusalem'

Speaking in Parliament with PM Modi, Netanyahu said, "I have to be diplomatic; I won't categorize this. I don't want to get into any trouble, but I have never been more impressed by your visit. Today, we have with us a great friend of Israel, a great supporter of the India-Israel alliance, and a great leader on the world stage. My dear friend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, welcome to Jerusalem."

'Our interests are the same.'

Nearly 80 years ago, we both broke free from British rule and gained our independence at roughly the same time. We share many common interests. We are two democratic countries. You are a large democracy, and so is Israel. Think about what we have had to do, what difficulties we have endured, and how we have maintained our democracy.
