In a shocking incident on Saturday night, a 55-year-old woman, who had come by train from Haridwar, was allegedly raped by a porter at Mumbai's Bandra Terminus. The incident reportedly took place when the accused found the woman resting in an empty train at the terminus and sexually assaulted her.
According to officials, the accused porter was present in another train. The incident came to light after the woman's relative complained to the railway police. An inquiry was launched after the incident and the accused was arrested.
Police said that the victim had come from another city with her relative for some work. After her relative left, the elderly woman boarded an empty coach. There was no passenger present at that time. Taking advantage of the situation, the porter raped her.
On returning, his relative contacted the Railway Protection Force and Railway Police. The police caught the accused with the help of CCTV footage installed at the terminus. Apart from this, the police has also started an investigation to find out the reason for the lack of security personnel at the spot.
