Jammu Kashmir News: A big update has come out on the proposal to restore the statehood of Jammu and Kashmir. BJP has urged to be cautious in taking a decision on this demand. Know the reason.

Jammu Kashmir News: There has been a demand for granting statehood to Jammu and Kashmir for a long time. There is news about this once again. The ruling National Conference (NC) and other political parties are demanding statehood. Meanwhile, the BJP has urged Delhi to be cautious in taking a decision about granting statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah have shown a compromising attitude on this issue.
He seems to have accepted the fact that the issue of statehood is for the Centre to decide. Challenging the Centre on this issue could further sour the party's ties with Delhi. National Conference president and former chief minister Dr Farooq Abdullah recently said that statehood is an issue on which the Centre will have to take a final decision. However, other leaders of his party are raising the issue strongly at various forums.
Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary, who presided over the Republic Day celebrations at Srinagar's Bakshi Stadium, turned the traditional speech into a political weapon. Instead of giving a speech rising above politics, Choudhary gave a speech that surprised many. In his Republic Day address, he said that "Article 370 is, was and will remain the constitutional right of Jammu and Kashmir." He did not give any explanation for his statement, as Article 370 was repealed by Parliament and this decision was upheld by the Supreme Court.
It is interesting to note that most of the anti-Centre statements have been issued by the Deputy Chief Minister, who was elected from Nowshera seat in Rajouri district by defeating the then BJP Jammu and Kashmir president Ravinder Raina. The National Conference is basically a regional valley-centric party and its politics has always been against the BJP. The National Conference has got most of its 42 assembly seats from the Valley. This makes the political interest of the NC completely opposite to the political interest of the BJP.
Despite this political reality, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his father Dr Farooq Abdullah are trying to minimise the areas of disagreement with the BJP-ruled Centre. Jammu and Kashmir's almost 100 per cent economic dependence on the Centre's support, lack of funds to pay a large number of government employees, rapidly depleting agricultural land and the ever-increasing demand for better business and self-employment opportunities, puts the Jammu and Kashmir government in an unpleasant situation. In such a situation, any confrontation with the Centre is likely to give relief to anti-national elements and supporters of terrorism, who are always looking for opportunities to create political instability in Jammu and Kashmir.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that he is a statesman of his calibre and has proved himself to be a very able administrator, striking a fine balance between Jammu and Kashmir and Delhi. His firm commitment to eradicate the ecosystem of terrorism while ensuring equitable distribution of opportunities to the people in the Valley and Jammu division has helped bridge the gap and remove the misunderstanding of the common man.
From meeting students, writers, academicians, artists and sportspersons to patronising the J&K police and security forces, the Lt Governor has not isolated himself as the Governor of Raj Bhawan in J&K. LG Manoj Sinha has been listening to the grievances of the people and resolving them in his humble, subtle and effective manner.
