How cheap will Bharat Taxi fare be?
India's cab industry has added a new name: "Bharat Taxi," officially launching on February 5, 2026. While the service is currently in Delhi-NCR, it will be rolled out in phases to major cities like Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chennai. According to the government, this model will be beneficial for both drivers and passengers.
Why is Bharat Taxi Cab Service special?
Bharat Taxi's biggest strength is its driver-ownership model. Current cab platforms charge drivers hefty commissions, impacting their earnings. However, Bharat Taxi will eliminate any commissions. Drivers will not only be service providers but also co-owners of the platform. This will provide financial strength and boost their confidence.
Each driver who joins the platform will be given five shares of the cooperative, making them a direct partner in the organization. Drivers only need to pay a minimum membership fee, which can be paid daily, weekly, or monthly. This arrangement makes it easy for even small and new drivers to join.
How much will the rent be reduced?
Bharat Taxi claims that its fares will be approximately 30% lower than current market rates. There will be no surge pricing, meaning fares won't increase during rain, traffic, or peak hours. Passengers will see pre-determined fares, eliminating any confusion.
The Bharat Taxi app offers a choice of three modes: bike, auto, and car. Drivers will also receive accident insurance of ₹5 lakh and family health insurance of ₹5 lakh. Even before its launch, the platform has already seen over 300,000 drivers and 100,000 users, demonstrating its growing popularity.
