Honda Shine will soon be launched in electric avatar, will be equipped with swappable battery, know details

Honda Shine 100 Electric may be launched in India soon. This affordable electric bike will be equipped with a swappable battery and electric motor. Let's know its features and launch details.

Honda is now preparing to bring its popular commuter bike Shine 100 in an electric avatar. The recently revealed patent image makes it clear that Honda is working on an EV that will look similar to Shine 100, but will run on an electric motor instead of petrol. With this move, Honda is targeting those customers who are looking for an affordable, reliable, and low-maintenance electric bike.

Now the bike will run on motor, not an engine.

Honda has now replaced the petrol engine with an electric motor in the Shine 100. The special thing is that the chassis of the bike has been kept the same as before, due to which its identity remains intact, and the manufacturing cost also comes down.

2 swappable battery packs

  • Honda Shine 100 Electric will be provided with two small batteries, which can be easily removed and replaced when needed. Each battery will weigh around 10.2 kg. These batteries will be fitted on both sides of the bike, and an airflow system will be provided between them so that they do not heat up too much. This technology will be quite similar to the battery swapping provided in Honda Activa Electric.

Hints from patent details

The electric motor of the bike is fitted in the same place where the engine of Shine 100 used to be earlier. The layout of the battery has also been designed according to the angle of the petrol engine. An advanced ECU (Electric Control Unit) has also been provided in the middle of the bike, which will help in better control of the electric system.

Launch Timeline

  • Although Honda has not given any official date for the launch of Shine 100 Electric, but looking at the patent design and finished chassis, it is being estimated that this bike can be launched in the market before 2026. To launch this new model, the company will not have to design a completely new bike, but it can be launched in the market by making some small changes in the existing platform of Shine 100.

You will get the benefit of Honda's battery swapping service

Honda has already built a strong battery swapping network for its Activa Electric. The same infrastructure will support the Shine 100 Electric as well, so users will not have to worry about charging. They can go to any swap station and replace the battery and get the bike running again immediately.

What makes Shine 100 Electric special?

Honda Shine 100 Electric will have two swappable batteries, each weighing 10.2 kg. It has an electric motor instead of a petrol engine and an ECU (Electric Control Unit) is installed in the middle of the bike which will provide smart control. Its chassis will be completely strong and simple like Shine 100. Also, Honda's existing battery swap network will give it an edge over other EV bikes.
