'Gambhir you are not doing right with Rahul', Srikkanth furious on sending KL Rahul down in batting

The Indian cricket team is playing a three-match ODI series against England before the Champions Trophy where they have already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. A lot has been good for the Indian team in the two matches played so far but there is also a big concern and that concern is none other than the form of the main middle order player KL Rahul.

KL Rahul has been sent down to number six below Axar Patel in both the matches played in the current series where he has been a complete flop. In his last four innings, Rahul has scored 31, 0, 2 and 10. This is the reason why former Indian selector Chris Srikkanth has reprimanded Gambhir and the team management and said that whatever the team management and Gautam Gambhir are doing with KL Rahul is not right.

Srikkanth said on his YouTube channel, "I feel very bad for KL Rahul, Axar Patel is batting well. What they are doing to Rahul is not fair. Look at his record. His record at No. 5 is fantastic and not many people can match it. I don't know what the team management is doing to him, they are pushing him to No. 6, where he is scoring just six or seven runs."

Srikkanth pointed fingers at the Indian coach, saying that India is 'wasting' Rahul's potential at No. 6 and even argued why India does not use a left-right combination in the top four but only at No. 5. He said, "(Gautam) Gambhir, what you are doing is not right. It is not right at all. It is very unfair. In a crucial match in the Champions Trophy, there is a good chance that Rahul is not in form. You don't need a left-right combination in the top four, but you need it after this. It is very unfair. Why waste KL Rahul at No. 6? Instead, play Rishabh Pant. Because of this, they can also drop Rahul, it is totally unfair to Rahul."

He concluded, "Look, you have to play your best player at No. 5, that's all. It doesn't matter if he is right-handed, left-handed or medium-handed. I don't care! The whole thought process is flawed. It may work right now, but it won't work in the long run. India should play their best batsman at No. 5 and not tinker too much with the winning combination."
