Despite his confession, investigators are still probing his claims as no body parts have been recovered yet.

Hyderabad woman murder: Timeline of events

The story began on January 16, 2025, when Venkata Madhavi's family reported her missing. Her husband, Guru Murthy, joined them at the Meerpet police station to file a missing person report. However, suspicions arose when officers found contradictions in his claims. Murthy reportedly confessed to the crime after further interrogation.

"The parents lodged a missing person complaint with us. The husband also joined them. We got suspicious and questioned him. He confessed to the crime," said police inspector Nagaraj.

The idol's terrible confession

Murthy reportedly told the officers that after an argument with his wife, he slammed her head against the wall, killing her instantly. Murthy is accused of dismembering the body in the bathroom to hide the crime. He then used a pressure cooker to boil the body parts for several hours while grinding the bones with a mortar and pestle. After boiling multiple times, he packed the leftover parts in bags and dumped them in different places, including the nearby Jillalaguda lake.

Lack of evidence and ongoing investigation

Despite Murthy's full confession, the Rachakonda police are yet to recover any body parts. "We cannot rely on mere allegations. We are gathering technical and scientific evidence. The case is being investigated," said Rachakonda police commissioner G Sudheer Babu.

The police have seized pressure cookers, water heaters and knives from the suspect's house. However, Murthy's claims have not been confirmed by any forensic evidence.

Cause of incident according to police

According to officials, the cause of the crime was probably a petty quarrel that turned violent. Deputy Commissioner of Police Choudhary Praveen Kumar said, "So far, we have no reason to believe that this was a pre-planned crime. It appears to be the result of a petty quarrel. We are questioning the suspect and we have not found any body parts."

According to sources, the couple used to argue frequently, but the exact reason for the fight is unknown.

Family background

Guru Murthy and Venkata Madhavi had two children, a son and a daughter. The couple had reportedly been strained for some time, with several differences of opinion, but it is unknown what happened on January 16 that led to the fatal incident.

Investigation is ongoing

The Meerpet police are still investigating the case, trying to obtain forensic evidence to support Murthy's confession. So far, no body parts have been recovered, and investigators are looking for any evidence that supports Murthy's allegations.

The tragic murder of Venkata Madhavi has shocked the city of Hyderabad, with the details of the crime leaving many in shock. As the investigation progresses, the police are working to gather all the necessary evidence to ensure justice for Madhavi and her family.
