The Meghalaya Cricket Association controversy has also affected the Ranji Trophy team. The entire team had to be replaced before the Plate Division match against Nagaland. The new squad was announced just two days before the match. The players from the previous team, which had played three matches, were practicing for the fourth match, but after the court's decision, MCA (Meghalaya Cricket Association) President James Sangma had to select a new team.

The controversy stems from an ongoing feud between the MCA president and secretary Reynold Kharkmani, who was suspended following allegations of inaction on sexual harassment complaints involving players from the Meghalaya U23 women's team.

The Meghalaya High Court declared Reynolds's decisions invalid and also invalidated the Ranji Trophy team selected by the association's Apex Council. Following this, a new team was selected for the match against Nagaland.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia told the Times of India that they had to abide by the High Court's decision, so the new team had to be allowed to play. He said, "The BCCI has no choice but to follow the High Court's order. Therefore, we had to allow the team selected on the president's initiative to play."
