A special vaccine will soon be available to prevent cancer in women. Union Health, Family Welfare and AYUSH Minister Prataprao Jadhav gave this information in a press conference on Tuesday. He said that this vaccine will be available in the next five to six months and it will be administered to girls aged 9 to 16 years.
According to Union Minister of State for Health Prataprao Jadhav, this vaccine will provide protection against the most common types of cancer in women - breast cancer, oral cancer and cervical cancer. He said that research on this vaccine is almost complete and its trials are in the final stage.
Big step of the government
Minister Prataprao Jadhav said that the number of cancer patients in India is constantly increasing, in view of which the central government has taken several important steps. Necessary cancer screening will be arranged for women after the age of 30, so that the disease can be detected in time and treated properly. Apart from this, the government is planning to set up day-care cancer centers so that cancer can be detected in the early stages and treatment can be started.
The government gave relief on cancer medicines.
The minister also announced that the government has abolished custom duty on medicines used in the treatment of cancer. This will make medicines available to patients at cheaper rates for treatment. He said that the 12,500 AYUSH health centers already present in the country will be strengthened further, so that people can get better health facilities. He also said that work is being done to increase the number of health centers across the country under the AYUSH department.
When will the vaccination start?
If everything goes well, this vaccine will be available in the next 5-6 months. After this, this vaccine will be given to girls aged 9 to 16 years, so that they can stay safe from cancer in the future.
