Senior batsman Ajinkya Rahane, who is out of the Indian Test cricket team, is trying his best to return to the team. Rahane, who is in great form in domestic cricket, recently gave an interview in which he made a sensational revelation and told that he was given a big offer to work as a commentator during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
Rahane led Mumbai to the Irani Trophy title in 2023-24, but Ajit Agarkar's selection committee did not show confidence in him despite this. He played in the World Test Championship final against Australia and was also part of the West Indies tour. However, his low scores led to him being dropped from the red-ball team.
Rahane said in an interview to the Indian Express, "I got a big offer to work as a specialist. It was a big amount but I knew I could still play. Getting selected is not in my hands. I did not want to be in a situation where I felt that this specialist assignment could be taken later so I turned down that offer." Let us tell you that Rahane was the highest run scorer in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He was also among the runs in Mumbai's Ranji Trophy quarter-final win over Haryana. Fans and cricket experts believe that the Indian team should have included Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane in the team. Rahane concluded his talk by saying, "I met a lot of people who felt that I should have been in the team. This motivates me to make another attempt."
