Myanmar ULFA Camp Strike: The special thing is that ULFA leader Paresh Barua has been missing for the last several years and is believed to be hiding somewhere on the China-Myanmar border or in Bangladesh.

Myanmar ULFA Camp Strike: ULFA (I), a militant organization active in Myanmar's Sagaing province bordering India, has alleged that India has carried out a major strike on its camp through drone and missile strikes. ULFA alleges that many top militants, including top commander Nayan Medhi, have been killed in the attack. However, the Indian Army (Army) and the Air Force have denied any such cross-border strike.
Assam's militant organization, United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA), i.e., ULFA (Independent), has issued a statement accusing India of drone and missile strikes. According to the statement, on Sunday (13 July) morning, while the funeral of ULFA's top commander Nayan Medhi alias Nayan Asom was going on, another commander present there died in a missile attack.
ULFA's camp is in Myanmar's Sagaing province.
According to ULFA, Nayan Medhi also died in a drone strike on the camp. This camp is in Waktham Basti of Myanmar's Sagaing province, bordering India. Here, the camp number of the extremist organization ULFA is 779. Apart from this, a strike was carried out on ULFA's Eastern Headquarters (camp) in Hoyat Basti. After the elimination of insurgency in Assam for the last one and a half decades, ULFA has made Myanmar its stronghold.
With the loosening of the grip of the army rule in Myanmar and the dominance of the rebels, anti-India organizations have found a safe haven. This is the reason why organizations like ULFA and NSCN (I) have become active in the forest areas of Myanmar bordering India. According to unconfirmed reports, apart from the ULFA camp, drone strikes have also been carried out on the bases of the Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagaland (I). So far, information about strikes on a total of four militant camps has come to light. All these camps are said to be in areas adjacent to the China border in Myanmar.
ULFA leader Paresh Barua missing for many years It
is noteworthy that ULFA leader Paresh Barua is also missing for the last several years and is believed to be hiding somewhere on the China-Myanmar border or in Bangladesh. Recently, a Bangladesh court converted the death sentence of (fugitive) Paresh Barua in a decade-old terror case to life imprisonment. In such a situation, the conspiracy of China, Pakistan and Bangladesh behind keeping ULFA alive was revealed. Recently, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had chargesheeted three ULFA militants including Paresh Barua in the case of planting multiple IEDs (bombs) in Guwahati (Assam) on the occasion of Independence Day (2024) last year.
Army denies strike
However, sources in the Indian Army and Indian Air Force have denied any kind of cross border strike in Myanmar. Myanmar too has not issued any statement regarding any such strike. In the year 2015, when the Indian Army carried out such a strike for the first time in Myanmar border, it had informed the whole world by organizing a proper press conference. During that time, to avenge the attack on an Indian Army convoy, the Army's Special Forces (Para-SF) had carried out a cross border raid in Myanmar and killed 60-70 NSCN (I) militants.
