Wave of grief in the sports world

Yashtika Acharya had achieved many achievements in her short career and she was considered the future of India in powerlifting. Her sudden death has caused deep grief in the sports world. It is important to take special care of safety while doing powerlifting and other weight training exercises. If you also go to the gym or practice lifting heavy weights, then avoid the mistakes mentioned below:

1. Lifting heavy weights directly without warming up

Warming up and stretching is necessary before any weightlifting. Lifting heavy weights without preparing the muscles increases the risk of injury.

2. Weightlifting without expert supervision

Always lift heavy weights with the help of a professional trainer or spotter. Weightlifting alone or without supervision can prove fatal.

3. Trying to lift more weight than your capacity.

Every person's body has a limit. Trying to lift more weight than necessary can cause serious damage to muscles, bones and joints.

4. Not using safety equipment properly

While powerlifting or lifting heavy weights, make sure to use weightlifting belt, knee guard and grip support for hands. This helps in keeping the body stable and preventing injury.

5. Using the wrong technique

Performing any exercise incorrectly can lead to loss of balance and serious injury. Always follow the correct posture and instructions of the trainer.
