Priyansh Arya first came into the limelight by hitting six sixes in an over. He hit six sixes in an over while playing for South Delhi Superstars in the inaugural season of the Delhi Premier League.

South Delhi Superstars scored 308 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs against North Delhi Strikers. During this, Arya played an innings of 120 runs in 50 balls. Priyansh Arya scored 608 runs in 10 innings in the Delhi League at an average of 67.56 and a strike rate of 198.69. He hit 43 sixes in this entire league.

Connection with Gautam Gambhir

According to ESPNcricinfo report, Arya's parents are teachers in a government school in Delhi and he has trained under Gautam Gambhir's former coach Sanjay Bhardwaj. Arya enrolled himself in this academy at the age of 9-10 years.

"I have spent hours watching players like Gautam Gambhir, Nitish Rana and Unmukt Chand train," Arya said, according to the report. "Sir would ask us to watch them from behind the nets. It was thrilling for us to see them all play from close quarters."

Starting the innings with Jaiswal

If luck had favoured Priyansh Arya, this batsman would have been seen opening with Yashasvi Jaiswal in the 2020 Under-19 World Cup. But due to a rule of BCCI, he was declared ineligible.

According to the report, Arya said about his ouster from the Under-19 World Cup, "When a selector (Amit Bhandari, former India fast bowler) asked me if I was in the Under-16, I told him that I was not eligible and was competing for the Under-19. I had scored runs in the Under-19 trial games, so I was confident."

Arya further said, "At that time, I was not aware of a rule that if you have not cleared the age test in Under-16, you will be eligible to play Under-19 only for two years. By the time I was 17, I had played Under-19."

That decision ruled Arya out of the Under-19 World Cup. It took him three more years to break into Delhi's senior team and his career did not take off until 2024-25.
