Nitish Kumar's Love Story: When Nitish learned that his family had discussed dowry, he became very angry. He flatly refused to accept dowry from his wife Manju's family.

 

Nitish Kumar is the biggest name in Bihar politics. He became the Chief Minister of Bihar nine times. Now elections are going to be held in Bihar once again. Just before this, all the parties had started preparing. Nitish's political career has been full of ups and downs. People know most of the things related to his career, but there are many things related to Nitish's personal life, that most people do not know. A similar story is related to his wife Manju Sinha.

 

The incident is of 1985. The current Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar had become an MLA for the first time then. When he reached his Bakhtiyarpur after winning the election, he was given a warm welcome, but his wife was not seen during this time. Nitish's wife Manju had gone to her maternal home in Sevdah. The distance between Sevdah and Bakhtiyarpur is about 40 kilometers.

Nitish decided to meet his wife at midnight. He asked a friend to take out his bike and go meet Manju. Nitish left at night, and when he arrived at his in-laws' house early in the morning, Manju was overjoyed to see him suddenly.

How was Nitish's marriage arranged?

Nitish Kumar enrolled in Patna College of Engineering in 1967. He had previously completed his primary education in Bakhtiyarpur. During his final year of college, his family arranged his marriage to Manju Sinha, who was studying at Magadh Mahila College in Patna. Nitish's college friend Uday Kant's book, " Nitish Kumar : Through the Eyes of Intimate Friends, " contains many fascinating stories about him. Nitish first saw Manju at a wedding reception and was captivated. 

I had sworn not to take dowry.

Nitish had decided not to marry without dowry, but his family agreed to the marriage on the condition that he pay a Tilak (a ritual ceremony) of 22,000 rupees. When Nitish learned that dowry would be taken, he was deeply upset and protested. He categorically told Manju's family that he would not accept dowry.
