AI Bots on the Internet: By next year, there will be more AI bot activity on the Internet than human activity. This is sure to put pressure on networks, according to Matthew Prince of Cloudflare.

AI Bots On Internet: The day is not far when AI bots will carry more traffic on the Internet than humans. This balance between humans and AI bots is soon going to deteriorate. Cloudflare's Chief Executive Matthew Prince says that in the next few years, there will be more AI-powered bots on the Internet than humans. He explained that due to the rapidly growing generative AI, AI agents will surpass human activity and will begin to perform most of the tasks that humans do.
The online behavior of bots is different from that of humans.
Prince explained that the behavior of bots on the internet is very different from that of humans. Humans visit only a few websites at a time, but AI systems can scan thousands of websites in a matter of seconds. He gave the example of this: if a person wants to buy a digital camera, they might visit five websites, but an agent might visit 5,000 websites for the same purpose. This would be real traffic, and everyone needs to be prepared for it.
What was the situation before AI?
Prince says that before the advent of generative AI, bot traffic on the internet only accounted for 20 percent, and most of this came from trusted sources like search engine crawlers. Furthermore, most of the remaining bots were linked to scams and malicious activity. Now, with generative AI, by 2027, a situation could arise where AI bots will account for more activity on the internet than humans.
pressure on the network will increase
The increase in bot activity will require physical infrastructure, increasing demand for data centers and servers. Prince compared this to the COVID-19 pandemic, saying that even then, streaming on YouTube and Netflix increased, putting pressure on networks. This could happen again.
