BJP leader and former MP Navneet Rana and her husband, MLA Ravi Rana, have allegedly received death threats from Pakistan, sparking serious security concerns. The Ranas have filed a complaint with the Khar Police Station in Mumbai, and an investigation is currently underway.
Chilling Threats from Across the Border
According to Navneet Rana's personal assistant, the threatening calls were made from multiple Pakistani numbers. One of the messages warned:
“We have all your information. You are a Hindu lioness. You are just a guest for a few days. We will kill you. Neither the vermilion will survive nor the person who applies it.”
Such language—targeting both her identity and her family—has raised alarm among law enforcement agencies. Her husband also received similar threats on his phone.
Previous Threats and Political Background
This is not the first time Navneet Rana has been threatened. In 2024, she reportedly received a threatening WhatsApp video from a Pakistani number. Just days before the current threat, she made a fiery statement praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Indian soldiers for their response to cross-border terrorism following Operation Sindoor:
“They entered your house and killed you. Modi, sitting on Delhi’s throne, is your father. What will a small Pakistan say? They’ll kill you one by one.”
The bold statement is believed to have provoked the recent threats.
Rising India-Pakistan Tensions
The threats come amid escalating India-Pakistan tensions following a terrorist attack in Pahalgam. In response, the Indian Army destroyed multiple terrorist hideouts in Pakistan. Pakistan retaliated with drone and missile attacks and heavy shelling along the LoC. India’s air defense, including systems like Akash, neutralized several threats and inflicted significant damage on Pakistani airbases.
Police Action and National Security Involvement
Given the international nature of the threat, Mumbai Police may escalate the investigation to central intelligence agencies. Calls from foreign sources, especially during heightened geopolitical tensions, are treated as high-risk security concerns.
