Just one day before he was killed in the devastating terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, 27-year-old Shubham Dwivedi was seen smiling, laughing, and playing cards with his wife and friends at a hotel in Srinagar. That video—now widely circulating on social media—is a chilling reminder of how quickly joy can turn into tragedy.
Shubham, a resident of Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, had recently gotten married and was in Kashmir for his honeymoon. In the video, he can be heard joking, “We will defeat everyone.” Just hours later, he was shot in the head by terrorists during the brutal ambush that has claimed the lives of at least 26 people so far.
“Kill me too,” Wife’s Cry Echoes After the Attack
Shubham’s wife, still in shock, told media outlets the harrowing moment when her husband was murdered. “As soon as they shot him, I screamed—kill me too,” she recalled, her voice trembling. According to her, one of the attackers chillingly responded, “We won’t kill you. Stay alive and go tell your government what we’ve done.”
The couple’s honeymoon was supposed to be the beginning of a new chapter. Instead, it ended in one of the bloodiest terror attacks in recent years. The video from their hotel, recorded just a day earlier, is a cruel snapshot of a life interrupted.
Central Government Steps In
Following the attack, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached Srinagar late Tuesday night and has since been coordinating with top security officials. He also visited victim families and is reportedly pushing for intensified counter-terror operations in the region.
Growing Tensions and a Nation in Mourning
The attack has sparked national outrage and renewed concerns over safety in Jammu and Kashmir. The Resistance Front (TRF), an affiliate of Lashkar-e-Taiba, has claimed responsibility for the massacre.
Shubham’s story is now one of many—young lives cut short, families shattered, and a country once again left demanding answers and justice.
