Washington Sundar received ₹7.5 million for winning the gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay Rupani himself presented him with the cheque. Other cricketers also received prize money.
Cash rewards for Indian cricketers

The Indian men's and women's cricket teams brought glory to the country by winning gold medals at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan. Following this, state governments announced cash rewards to honor the players. Washington Sundar received Rs 7.5 million, while Deepti Sharma of Uttar Pradesh received Rs 3 crore.
The Indian men's team won the gold medal on October 3rd, defeating Pakistan by 19 runs in the final. The women's team defeated Sri Lanka by 147 runs. Following both teams' victories, discussions began to center on the players' performances and the rewards they would receive.

The Tamil Nadu government announced a cash reward of ₹7.5 million (7.5 million rupees) for Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar. Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay announced this on October 3. Sundar took 2 wickets for 29 runs while bowling in the final against Pakistan. India, batting first, scored 211 runs in 20 overs. In response, Pakistan could only manage 192 runs.
Deepti Sharma gets Rs 3 crore.
The Uttar Pradesh government announced a reward of ₹3 crore (approximately $30 million) to Indian women's cricketer Deepti Sharma. In the final against Sri Lanka, Deepti bowled brilliantly, taking 3 wickets for 6 runs. Batting first, India scored 216 runs, and Sri Lanka were bowled out for 69.
Vipraj Nigam also got a reward of Rs 3 crore.
The Uttar Pradesh government also announced a reward of ₹3 crore for Indian men's team player Vipraj Nigam, who was part of the gold-winning Indian team. Thus, following the cricket success at the Asian Games, Washington Sundar, Deepti Sharma, and Vipraj Nigam were announced as recipients of cash rewards from their state governments.
