Uttar Pradesh: FIR Filed Against BJP Worker Over Derogatory Remarks on Prophet, Communal Tensions Flare in Ballia and Prayagraj

Amid rising national solidarity due to India-Pakistan tensions, incidents aimed at disrupting communal harmony have surfaced in Uttar Pradesh. A BJP worker in Ballia has been booked for allegedly posting derogatory comments on social media targeting the Muslim community and Prophet Muhammad. The post sparked public outrage and led to a formal police complaint.

In a separate incident in Prayagraj, a video from an anti-Pakistan protest has gone viral, showing individuals trampling a poster displaying the Islamic Kalma along with the Pakistani flag. The act triggered anger among the Muslim community, prompting police complaints and calls for action.

FIR Registered Against BJP Worker in Ballia

According to the Ballia Police, Anil Soni, a local BJP functionary, is accused of uploading objectionable content on Facebook that allegedly insulted Prophet Muhammad and used derogatory language about Allah. The complaint was filed by Naeem Zafar, a resident of Rasra town, along with six others.

Based on their statements, an FIR was lodged late Thursday night under charges related to hurting religious sentiments and promoting communal disharmony.

Communal Tension Escalates After Social Media Posts

One of the controversial posts by the accused reportedly read, “It’s summer now, drink sugarcane juice only after checking Aadhaar card, otherwise…” — a statement interpreted by the complainants as a communal slur disguised as a joke. Police confirmed that the language used in multiple posts was inflammatory and likely to disturb public order.

Following the social media controversy, a protest broke out at Gandhi Park in Rasra on Thursday evening, where members of the local Muslim community demanded swift action against the accused. Authorities deployed additional security personnel to maintain peace and prevent escalation.

Prayagraj Protest Video Sparks Outrage

Meanwhile, in Prayagraj, during a demonstration against Pakistan, a poster featuring the Islamic Kalma was placed on a Pakistani flag and trampled underfoot, a gesture perceived as highly disrespectful by Muslims. The video, which quickly spread on social media, has fueled further outrage.

Complaints have been filed, and the police have launched an investigation. A senior police official said, “Anyone found involved in inciting communal tension will face strict legal consequences.”

Social media platforms are also being closely monitored, with authorities warning users against spreading hate speech or misinformation.

Appeal for Communal Harmony

In light of these events, law enforcement agencies have urged the public to refrain from sharing provocative content and maintain communal harmony, especially during a time of national sensitivity. Investigations in both cases are ongoing.
